Não há dúvida de que quando os Maple Leafs anunciaram as contratações conjuntas de John Chayka e Mats Sundin, houve uma espécie de perplexidade geral entre a base de fãs. 2. Chayka tem a vantagem do azarão

Diga o que quiser sobre todo o drama de Chayka no Arizona, a única coisa que você não pode tirar do cara é que parece que ele sempre tem uma ideia, ou um ângulo, e é exatamente isso que tenho dito que os Leafs precisam agora. Eles estão em dificuldades e precisam ser criativos sobre como adicionar. Eles não podem simplesmente pintar por números “adicionar UFA no dia do UFA” e “negociar caras no dia do comércio” que estão fazendo.
Chayka fez 24 negociações em quatro anos com o Arizona Coyotes, pegou dinheiro ruim para conseguir outros ativos, fez contratos diferidos, estava apenas aberto a outras maneiras de fazer as coisas. 5. Os Leafs realmente só queriam Sundin envolvido
Quando a situação chegar, não acho que Sundin tomará decisões difíceis sobre pessoal, e acho que a organização o protegeu de um escrutínio intenso com o título “Cara que estará por perto todos os dias” ou o que quer que seja exatamente (OK, tudo bem, é consultor executivo sênior).
O que isso parece para mim: eles não queriam contratar um presidente completo e apenas queriam ficar apenas com a GM. Mas eles queriam que fosse um cara não comprovado e com alguma bagagem, e para ambas as coisas, Sundin é o antídoto perfeito. Isso não é para minimizar sua capacidade de ajudar o time e a organização – é claro que eles realmente o queriam – mas acho que isso permitiu que os Leafs conseguissem seu cara, ao mesmo tempo em que mantinha os fãs felizes. Uma empresa que pretendia construir o seu primeiro pequeno reactor nuclear modular em New Brunswick está a colocar alguns dos seus activos à venda, uma vez que o seu futuro na província está cada vez mais em dúvida.
A Moltex Vitality Canada está vendendo seus projetos de engenharia, patentes, software program, propriedade intelectual, dados de modelagem e outros ativos para uma nova empresa que pretende vender reatores em outro lugar.
A Nuclea Vitality Inc., com sede na Colúmbia Britânica, está oferecendo à Moltex US$ 11,5 milhões – uma pequena fração do que os contribuintes investiram na empresa Saint John na última década.

O documento afirma que a venda “não envolve a aquisição de todos os ativos ou passivos” da Moltex.
O projeto do reator da Nuclea, denominado Morpheus, é um microrreator que difere tecnologicamente do modelo da Moltex, denominado reator de sal estável.

Quando uma sequência da comédia dos anos 2000 foi anunciada pela primeira vez em 2024, muitos se perguntaram como O Diabo Veste Prada 2 lidaria com o declínio lento e deprimente da revista feminina. (Glamour, Self, Attract e Teen Vogue fecharam ou se tornaram apenas digitais nos últimos anos.) É deprimente, mas apropriado que a revista Runway esteja em aparelhos de suporte de vida na abertura de O Diabo Veste Prada 2. Uma gala chamativa no estilo Met Ball não consegue esconder o fato de que a marca está em apuros, com a imperiosa editora-chefe Miranda Priestly (Streep) tentando manter Runway à tona com conteúdo social e sessões de moda Gorpcore, embora a mera menção de bolsas de cintura a faça ter urticária. Achei impossível não sorrir com o reencontro de Andy e Miranda, principalmente quando a editora veterana começa a atacar seu antigo pupilo. “Você realmente deveria dar uma olhada nisso, naquela condição que faz você se arrastar”, Miranda informa a Andy sobre seu andar perfeitamente regular. Mas é o Nigel de Tucci que tem as cenas mais engraçadas com Andy, desde inicialmente cumprimentá-la com “Olha o que TJ Maxx arrastou” até (outra) reforma no armário de moda da Runway, onde ele a cobre com roupas de grife e uma bolsa Hermès horrível que pode apenas rivalizar com a colcha de retalhos Louis Vuitton do primeiro filme Intercourse and the Metropolis em termos de feiúra.
A rainha do gelo suaviza
Os anos suavizaram Miranda, embora a rainha do gelo não tenha descongelado totalmente – ou alcançado o politicamente correto de 2026. E embora seja difícil sentir pena de Miranda ter que voar em aviões econômicos ou trocar seu motorista por Ubers devido a restrições orçamentárias, o filme é um retrato eficaz da personagem em uma encruzilhada enquanto ela (fugazmente) considera a aposentadoria. O primeiro filme mostrou porque “todo mundo quer ser nós”, mas a sequência mostra o custo pessoal de manter essa fachada glamorosa.

Após a morte do editor Irv Ravitz, o futuro da Runway é colocado nas mãos de seu filho: um idiota codificado do Vale do Silício que sonha em substituir editores e modelos por IA. Ele está “sugando a alma de tudo”, grita Andy, que trama um esquema estúpido para salvar a revista com a ajuda de Emily e seu novo namorado oligarca da tecnologia, Benji Barnes (Justin Theroux, interpretando uma espécie de composição Musk-Bezos). É uma configuração inteligente para alguns grandes momentos de duas mãos entre Hathaway e Blunt, e o ponto da trama chega perto de casa, dado o quanto a mídia agora é controlada por bilionários da tecnologia.
Andy precisa de um ato duplo: a personagem de Hathaway pode ter ganhado um prêmio Golden Keyboard (eu também não) por suas reportagens rigorosas, mas ela é meio que uma soneca, e uma subtrama romântica envolvendo um arquiteto australiano parece complicada. Enquanto isso, a personagem Emily de Blunt só se tornou mais divertidamente vil nas duas décadas desde o primeiro filme, atirando punhais em lacaios em seu novo emprego na Dior e provocando Miranda sobre Runway passando por tempos difíceis. “Lembra quando as revistas existiam?” ela vibra de forma bruxa. Two people have been killed after a car rammed into people in the center of the German city of Leipzig today, police said.
A spokesperson for the city said that another two people were seriously injured, German news agency dpa reported.
A statement posted on the Leipzig city website said the car and its driver had been stopped and no longer posed any danger.

What caused the fatal cruise ship outbreak?
A rare outbreak of hantavirus, transmitted by rodents, has killed three on a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean, leaving one Briton in intensive care.
What’s the situation?
A suspected hantavirus outbreak has left three people dead and one in intensive care.
It occurred on the MV Hondius cruise liner, which was travelling from Argentina to Cape Verde.
The ship is now grounded in South Africa, and five more suspected cases are under investigation.
One British national is reportedly in intensive care and tested positive for the virus.

What is hantavirus?
Hantavirus cases are usually linked to environmental exposure, such as contact with waste from infected rodents.
In rare cases they can spread between people, resulting in severe respiratory illness.
It can cause two diseases, one that primarily affects the lungs and the other that attacks the kidneys.

How it works
The new pembrolizumab injection is effective against multiple cancers, including lung, breast and cervical. It is given every three weeks as a one-minute injection or every six weeks as a two-minute injection.

Who will benefit?

The new injectable form means treatment time can be slashed by up to 90 per cent.
Roughly 14,000 patients start pembrolizumab therapy each year in England. Most will now switch to the jabs.
NHS national clinical director for cancer, Professor Peter Johnson, said: “It will help free up vital appointments for NHS teams.”

What caused the fatal cruise ship outbreak?
A rare outbreak of hantavirus, transmitted by rodents, has killed three on a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean, leaving one Briton in intensive care.
What’s the situation?
A suspected hantavirus outbreak has left three people dead and one in intensive care.
It occurred on the MV Hondius cruise liner, which was travelling from Argentina to Cape Verde.
The ship is now grounded in South Africa, and five more suspected cases are under investigation.
One British national is reportedly in intensive care and tested positive for the virus.

What is hantavirus?
Hantavirus cases are usually linked to environmental exposure, such as contact with waste from infected rodents.
In rare cases they can spread between people, resulting in severe respiratory illness.
It can cause two diseases, one that primarily affects the lungs and the other that attacks the kidneys.

How it works
The new pembrolizumab injection is effective against multiple cancers, including lung, breast and cervical. It is given every three weeks as a one-minute injection or every six weeks as a two-minute injection.
The immunotherapy jab works by helping the body recognise cancer cells and destroy them.

Who will benefit?

The new injectable form means treatment time can be slashed by up to 90 per cent.
Roughly 14,000 patients start pembrolizumab therapy each year in England. Most will now switch to the jabs.
NHS national clinical director for cancer, Professor Peter Johnson, said: “It will help free up vital appointments for NHS teams.”
Analysis suggests the injection cuts the amount of time staff spend on preparing treatment by 44 per cent.

The £180-a-year TV licence would be drastically cut and only paid by households that use BBC services. Criminal sanctions for non-payment would be abolished.
The future of licence fee is up for grabs, with the BBC admitting the current model “can no longer support our public service mission” and the Government “considering differential rates for specific types of users”.
GB News – which has recorded more viewers on average than Sky News for the past nine months -responded to a ministerial call for interested parties to submit their own proposals as part of its consultation into a new BBC Charter, which will set out the funding and governance of the corporation for the next decade.
Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy is unlikely to back changes that would dramatically reduce the BBC’s size, while the corporation said attempts to “narrow our scope” would undermine its current ability to cater to 94 per cent of the population.
Reform UK has said it will rip up any Charter agreement agreed under Labour and introduce its own radical reform of the BBC, if it gains power.
The party said it had not contributed to the GB News document, which was produced independently. It said it opposed the licence fee model and that any alignment with Farage’s public comments “comes from the growing consensus that people should not be forced to pay the licence fee”.

The Reform leader has pledged to abolish the compulsory licence fee and said that the BBC should drop entertainment and sports programmes and be limited to providing a news service.
In its submission, GB News called on the Government to “reform the licence fee such that a smaller licence fee is payable only by households that choose to watch BBC content; and in order only to fund genuine public service content under a narrower remit”.
The BBC “should operate only where the market cannot already deliver”, with programming restricted to “under-represented genres that are not covered elsewhere”, it added.
BBC Sport and the BBC website should be cut back, following a review into “over-reach” by both, the submission argued.
‘Mouthpiece’ for Reform
Alan Rusbridger, the former Guardian editor, has accused GB News of being a dedicated “mouthpiece” for Reform, and led an investigation into alleged impartiality breaches at the channel.
The channel called Rusbridger’s findings “fundamentally flawed” and lacking “impartiality”.
Any similarities between the GB News plan and Reform’s policies were entirely coincidental, GB News said, adding that it would be “completely untrue to suggest Reform had any involvement in the [BBC Charter] submission. It’s a GB News submission made independently.”
However, the plan could find favour with Reform policymakers. A GB News insider said: “It’s a 30-page blueprint for a reduced BBC. Reform could use it as an off-the-shelf prescription if it won power. But the Tories could too if they were really being radical.”
Under the plan, the 46 million “warning” or “enforcement” letters sent by TV Licensing last year would be slashed.
The GB News submission said: “Criminal sanctions for non-payment should be abolished and a more proportionate scheme for ensuring payment by those who choose to watch BBC services should be established.”

Under the proposals, the BBC would also be banned from putting programmes on YouTube, a central plank of the corporation’s strategy to reach younger viewers.
Instead of providing £137m to fund the World Service alone, the Government should make a pot of money available for all broadcasters, including GB News, to bid for to make public service news programming.
GB News, which is co-owned by Sir Paul Marshall, the hedge fund tycoon and owner of The Spectator, said it was seeking a meeting with ministers to discuss its proposals.
GB News, which recorded losses of £22m last year despite growing revenues by two thirds, was mocked at its launch for registering “zero” viewers. It was fined £100,000 by Ofcom for impartiality breaches last year.
It has since seen off Rupert Murdoch’s rival channel TalkTV and marks its fifth birthday next month.
However, insiders said its BBC plan was flawed. “Everyone agrees the metropolitan, elitist BBC needs to be brought to heel but GB News shouldn’t seek to take any government money,” one on-air figure said. “It undermines our claim to be the anti-establishment channel.”
The BBC, in its Charter submission, said the licence fee was ”not sustainable” in its current form, and suggested it could be extended to people watching streaming platforms, to close a widening gap between those who use BBC services and the number of people who actually pay the fee.
A Reform spokesman said: “The party has not contributed to the GB News submission. We are still working on our broadcasting policies but remain firmly opposed to the licence fee model.”
A BBC spokesperson said: “The BBC [is] used by 94 per cent of UK adults on average per month and is still the number-one brand for media in the UK.” The spokesperson added that “Charter Review must deliver radical reform to secure a funding model that is universal, fair, sustainable, and future-proof.”

A atuação de Kikuo surpreende um renomado ator de kabuki chamado Hanjiro, interpretado por Ken Watanabe. Mas o evento é atacado caoticamente por uma gangue rival, a yakuza é morta e Hanjiro se oferece para adotar Kikuo e treiná-lo como um onnagata em sua companhia kabuki, ao lado de seu próprio filho Shunsuke.
Kikuo (interpretado como adulto por Ryô Yoshizawa) e Shunsuke (Ryûsei Yokohama) tornam-se famosos e próximos como irmãos, mas seu vínculo de amizade é testado até a destruição quando Hanjiro faz do garoto yakuza seu favorito e até mesmo seu sucessor. Shunsuke sai furioso, levando a namorada de Kikuo, Harue (Mitsuki Takahata), com ele; em sua ausência, Kikuo torna-se mais implacavelmente ambicioso, até brincando sobre fazer um pacto com Satanás em troca do sucesso last, para profundo desespero da filha que ele teve com sua amante gueixa e a quem ele se recusa impiedosamente a reconhecer. Ele também tem um relacionamento abusivo com a filha de um dos principais patrocinadores corporativos. Mas Shunsuke está aguardando o retorno.
A ação é elegantemente intercalada com apresentações de kabuki, cujos títulos e histórias são resumidos em legendas em chyron. Talvez o mais importante deles seja Sagi Musume ou Heron Maiden, sobre uma garça apaixonada por um homem que se transforma em mulher e dança para ele até morrer. O onnagata é claro que os atores também se transformam em mulheres, talvez ansiando por uma certa delicadeza idealizada de sentimento, nobreza e beleza que não podem alcançar como homens.
Uma leitura deste filme – uma leitura ocidentalizada, talvez – seria vê-lo como uma narrativa queer, desafiando as normas de género; quando Kikuo é reduzido a se apresentar em casas de chá e restaurantes, ele é submetido ao que equivale a um ataque homofóbico por parte de um hooligan zombeteiramente fascinado que não consegue acreditar que um homem esteja vestido dessa maneira e talvez seja afetado por Kikuo de maneiras que ele não admite. Talvez haja um elemento de erotismo e transgressão no kabuki que permeia profundamente a superfície. Mas isso pode ser redutor. A ênfase está mais na disciplina e no compromisso ao serviço da arte, uma autoimolação vocacional em que a transformação da dor em beleza é o ponto principal.
